Hi,

Im back in the market for a C4S cab and am wondering what i should be paying for a good example. I had an 04 one with a yrs warranty last yr that i paid 53k for in June. It didnt have PCM or PSE though. (I belive its called poverty spec). It came to a sticky end on the A303 in Salisbury in November. Now the insurance is sorted and armed with a further education in standing water, Aquaplaning and rear end inertia, i want to get another. Not being a rich man, i worry about residuals when i come to sell the car in a years time.

From the classifieds i assume i should be paying around 46k for an 04/04 with pse, pcm etc and a warranty on a private sale. Or am i being a bit too optimistic?

Will the fact that the 997 c4s cabs are starting to drop adversly affect the price of said 996 in 12 months time or should they hold steadily?

How much should i expect to lose in depreciation over a 12 month period?

As the C4S is not listed (properly) in the online parkers guide (priced as a c4), a current glasses guide price would be handy. Trade, private and retail if poss.

Thanks

Newbie.

As i said. The prices on Parkers are not accurate. Parkers says i can get a 04/04 c4s cab from a dealer for 45k. More like 52-55 on the classifieds. Parkers also says i can get a c4 cab for 45k. They need to update their stats.

OK, My mistake. Parkers prices are "inconsistant" with the classifieds.

Are they ever??? confused
I hate it when people come around to look at the car and start quoting Parkers. They are always way off.

Is that just an asking price/actual sale price difference?

It is a Parkers listed price/real world price difference.

How much are they out usually? Is it always about the same percentage?

Jesus wept. This encapsulates the whole problem right there. When you have people supposedly fighting over a car at prices like that, then the rest of us not on drugs don't stand a chance of getting your attention. But hey - thanks for posting. Any chance of a picture? I'm thinking of something along the lines of you standing right behind a customer as he bends over to examine the paint flaking off an alloy, with your hips thrust forwards.... and maybe with your right index finger pointing cheekily at your mouth whilst you make an "oooerrr missus" expression at the camera. Possibly caption it with "Spread 'em - it's the OPC". I could do with a laugh.
