My vote rubbish. It's very slow (f8.3 at best) and won't be any good but in the brightest conditions. Is also way too long for most uses. Get a cheap / SH 70-300 F4.5-5.6 Zoom instead.

Might be okay as a telescope (no really!), but that would be mounted on a solid pier or mount, not a flimsy tripod or handheld.

Mirror lenses are junk.

And that 1st one - "Aperture Range: 420mm : f/ 8.3-11 800mm : f/ 16-21"

Means no AF and hideously long shooting times unless stella bright.

"Your pictures are only as good as the glass in your lens."

I doubt theres much decent glass in that.

Mirrors are lenes that focus the light with mirrors (and sometimes glass), rahter than lenses. Nearly all telescopes are mirrors as it gives a compact (the light is folded so they are shorter) and light design that is easy to produce. Hubble is a mirror (RC) catadioptic design!

Mirror SLR lenses have gone out of fashion with the availibility of cheaper lenses through improved manufacturing technologies. The are compact and cheap and don't suffer from colour fringing (cromatic abberation), but have a large centre spot that isn't used so are slow and the out of focus highlights are doughnut shaped, not round. They also suffer from a lack of edge sharpness due to Coma (spherical abberation).

GO for a Canon 70-300 USM II or Sigma APO 70-300.

No probs! Happens to everyone!

The sigma and the equivilent Tamron have a great 1:2 "macro" function that is great for closeups. The sigma optics are very good to for the money. Just avoid the non apo sigma. I had one in Canon fit at it was awful. The nikon fit apo is much better, though I've just awapped that for an 80-200 F2.8 8o)

No good for Motorsport shots then !
I had a really good camera.. Olympus E-10.. learnt how to use it proper like.. but as had a fixed lens very naive about all this

I think its a good budget zoom, and is one of the cheapest respectable ones, no personal experience of it tho.

I use a Sigma 70-300 APO on my D50 for motorsport. I love it. Gives me clear, crisp pictures every time. Very pleased for the money!
