wheel arches stuff?
Discussion
Hi Dave, I think just about every new TVR over the last 5 years has this trouble. mine certainly did.If you don't believe me, run your hand around the inside of your rear wheel arches, you can hear when it's come away.
The stuff TVR seem to have used is just a matt black paint (Gerbil feel free to correct me if i'm wrong)The reason it all falls off is due to the surface not being etched and the dust wiped off. i know its dust, as it was on the back of the flaked off paint.you can see that, by the shiny surface below the flaked off paint.
Mine came off in great big sheets, and i sanded down the area as much as i could, wiped it down with acetone.(DON'T GET ACETONE ON YOUR OUT SIDE PAINT WORK !!! And applied an aerosol spray underseal product that you can get from most car spares shops, but i got mine from Halfrauds, made by 3M i think.
I have been a Fibreglass Laminator for over 35 years, and have seen this happen on numerous moulds/boats, all due to bad preperation of the area.
Hope that helps...Dave
