New Alloys For Griff

I'm getting a new set of 17" rims for the griff at the end of the month, and wandered whats going to look the best.
Has anybody got ideas and pic of the rims on a griff

I Just got a set of 17 inch Pro race 1.2 rims. 7.5 fronts and 8 rears. Best price I found was via Halfords. They have the centre trims removed to comply with the blue book regs.

If you look at www.gurstondown.org/latest.htm#news1 you will see them in use. Also you could look at the SP wheels thread down the page a bit

I was looking for something as close as possible to the original (buggered) Estorils

Hi,is'nt it time some manufacturer made some 17in spiders for Griffs and Chims that go straight on[4 stud etc].Its a mod I would seriously consider.Dave.

Yes sorry thats what I meant,same as the factory 16s and 18s.Surly if there was enough interest the same supplier could manufacture them. 17in spiders with R888's,yes please.Dave.

That would require a new tool for the front (one width) and a new tool for the rear (wider width or plus one inch and wider width) - tooling investment = £40,000. Each wheel would then have to go throught the design process and have to undergo testing - additional investment £10,000. Production batches would then need to be 300 pieces of each size/ width - further investment £60,000. There are a lot of Chim/ Griffs out there but nowhere near enough to justify this kind of investment. That's why the SP12 was born. The design is a matter of personal taste (but you have to see them "in the flesh" on a car to fully appreciate the spoke profile and synergy with the cars' lines) but you have a wheel that is technically correct, fits the car perfectly, is lightweight and strong... and looks OE.

The idea of a bespoke design (Spider-esque or otherwise) as a TVR upgrade is nice but, alas, not realistic.

Unfortunatley can't remember where from, maybe try a search on other threads, I know for sure someone bought some for his Chimaera as he'd contacted me about them via e-mail but that was on my old computer that went bang. Sorry if it doesn't help much.

I seem to remember a really nice bloke, sure he'll tell you were from. I bought mine second hand/unused/not needed.

They're Ford 17" RS Diamond Cut alloys. A brand new set was recently on ebay for £800ish.

I've not found any available for the last 6 months or so. When they were available, yep they were just under £500 for 4.

Yup new for £500. They are as stated 17" diamond cut Ford RS alloys. Have a word with 'Chauch' as he got his 'new' towards end of last year.
