from what little I know, I'd guess the SLR will find its place / price in the market this summer. Considering production ends soon, but the convertible will be released after that.

Starting to see 2005 cars edging towards or listing at £200K. SO my question is (and I know some people think it’s just a big sl) where will the price settle at this year?

Thanks for your thoughts,
Simon

Hard to say, my gut instinct is 150k

they have withdrawn from the US market

a UK car is £330k, a US new untitled car is equiv £175k. Go figure. Hence the market had been slaughtered as traders are bringing in cars, adding the vat/import and still making a healthy profit compared with the UK cars

Unbelievable as they are all assembled in Guildford, with the carbon fibre chassis made in Portsmouth

Where are they assembled in Guildford? I thought it was Woking, or is that just Mac HQ?

And why would you want a convertible SLR? I bet it will look crap.

I think by summer they'll be around 175k, considering how much they've dropped in price already. For that price, though, I'd rather save a bit more and get an LP640.

Hi there,

Think I might have to pay a visit to Mercedes World at Brooklands, apparently they have opened a SLR Centre of Excellence and they currently have four used SLR's for sale: -

the slr cab is going to be stunning. I will hopefully get a look at it in a month or so at a weekend mclaren have set up. Ive been promised one of first ones off the line as ive been bothering them for an order for quite some time now. Its just a descision of silver with black or black with red?

Its average, I wouldn't recommend it really. You can only spend a couple of hours in there. After that you'll be ripped off for the price they charge for food or passenger rides. If you're going there to take photos, take some of the cute blonde that works there.

Is that the weekend that the SLR Club have setup?

If so one of my bestmates is the head of Event Management for them and is going to be at the event.

SLR doors are dihedral instead of scissored of course, but they are hinged on the A-pillar.

Cool. thumbup I didn't see any SLRs driving around. I suppose if you looked as though you wanted to buy one then they would.

The stupid woman got arsey with me when I asked if I could take a photo of the back of the cars, they were behind ropes. 'Oh no, you'd have security in here' RRRRRIIIIGGGGHhhht Because I'm really going to damage the car aren't I?

The funny thing for me was that they had SLRs in there with ropes and you couldn't move around them at all. They had this prototype racer SL, from the 60s, only one of its type out in the museum, rope around it but you could touch it quite easily if you wanted. Worth over £2,000,000. Nobody bats an eyelid.

I friend was offered an SLR, manufactured in 05 but 06 spec and registered in 06 for 199,000 with 15k on the clock. At that price it's tempting. Although having never driven a left-hand drive in the UK, I'm not sure how easy that is to live with.

When you see press photos they just don't do the car justice, seeing it for really no one can say an SLR doesn't have presence, even if its not your taste.

Like Doug said, they looked after us when we went to visit. I personally wouldn't touch one just yet, the sales person spent some time talking to us and he did say they were circa 1500 into a 3500 production run, I don't know of any other £300k+ prodcution car that has been made in such large numbers. Be interesting when someone next speaks to them if they can clarify if the production run is still going to be so large.
