ACCIDENT - Best Place to a respray?
Discussion
Just been sideswiped by a white van, left lovely big scratches and scuffs down the Offside drivers door, front wing and mirrors.
Now whilst the damage isnt instantly obviously structual, I am not going to risk driving it, I have the car at home now.
My question is, where shall I specify the car go for a respray, and actually, will they respray the whole car? or just the wing (front and back of wheel) door and mirror? Also, how long does a respary take ? whats likely offroad time?
I am based in Billericay..
any help appreciated
thanks

A bit of a treck round the M25 from Billaricy, but they do a great job.

This payback for me putting that bollard on your drive the other month ??
Everyone can fix it, but noone can offer anywhere near a decent car... why cant they comprehend that i DONT WANT a corsa!!
I want car at least approximating my TVR, maybe a BM or a Merc, NOT A CORSA.
Anyone got any suggestions as to where I can use that will offer me a car I can happily drive ?
thanks

Don't think you can specify equivalent model of car. There's probably some sort of get out clause on your policy that says you have to have a Corsa. If you held them to an equivalent car they could argue that if your Chim was N reg, then a Beemer 5 series on an N plate is fair exchange - despite the probability it has SS Enterprise mileage and fag burns all over the interior with the required apple core in the glovebox.
Sorry to hear about the damage - hope you get it sorted soon

yeah, they say the policy states a Corsa
called Helphire anyway, and they sorting me a replacement Chim/Porker/Z3 Coupé
Been told about them by a m8 in the ins. industry, they do all the leg work, sort out sending the car to wherever you want (factory / dealer etc) for work, cover all expenses and legal action, and pass on cost to ins comp. v.good reputation, and after spending half an hour on the fone to their wonderful rep, i am v.chuffed.
She reckons I should have a new car by tomorrow, so long as he admits liability officially.
checked the car today, drivers door all scuffed and scratched, mirror is scuffed up, and front wing scuffed scratched and crushed, with the wheel arch being cracked with holes int he fibreglass and fibreglass shards dangling around
Alloy also rather scuffed/dented and I am sure I will have a nice flatspot on the Tyre
aah well
c'est la vie.
thnx chaps

I've just got my car back after going through Helphire. They offered me a boxter or an M3 convertable, didn't have any TVRs. I took the M3 as I needed the boot space but wish I'd gone for the boxter instead. The M3 was powerful but had no grunt, was flabby and totally uninspiring.
However make sure you get the admision of liability or you'll end up with the bill. You'll also have to personally chase the garage to get you car fixes ASAP because as far as Helphire are conserned the longer it takes the more money they make. Oh, and the M3 hire charges were a rip off at £299 a day for the first two weeks.
Hmm,
they told me that a £10 insurance fee was All i needed to pay, to cover my liability for the hire, incasae they failed to recover costs from the Third party.
Its taking a weird slant now, the driver that hit me, is telling them the only reason he hit me is due to the other white van swerving into his lane, causing him to swere into me.
Now, due to this, they say they have to chase the third white van, and NOT the one that hit me, and that if they cant trace the third white van, they wont take the claim, on the basis that it wasnt the other white vans fault (that hit me)
Flippin Stupid if you ask me
They also say now, that the driver of the van that hit me, has told his insurance that in his opinion he wasnt at fault, so now they are talking about 50/50 liability and me losing my ncb etc.
Told them there was more chance of TVR fitting tcl and abs, than there was of me accepting ANYTHING that will adversely affect me.
The guy swerved to avoid a van, the guy hit me.. Case Closed!
Jesus, why cant insurance claims be simple!

With Helphire you pay £10 for an insurance policy to protect yourself and payout if the third party won't pay the car hire. You also pay the first £40 of the car insurance cost of the hire car.
I was lucky in that my case was clear, I was stationary in traffic and he went into the back of me. Your case is a bit messy but I agree with you, irrespective of why he went into the side of you, he went into the side of you while he was in control the vehical. His insurance company is just playing silly bu@@ers and trying to reduce their liability. Ultimatly I suspect they'll just pay up but that doesn't help you with car cover while's yours is in the bodyshop.

Aah well, they will take the case..
Good Thing I spose..
But, they giving me an M3 Cab
After the comments in this thread about that car, I informed her I didnt want it, and would even take a Boxster 3.2s instead, but they all out of boxsters..
Only options were take a drop to a 7 series, or pay £189 a day for an M5 (surplus)
