Just test drove a rallye to replace my 182, clutch seemed heavy, is this normal? Lovely car, prefer the 182 but, not much of a step down.

Heavy clutch does seem common on the 306. Apparently the cable sits quite close to the exhaust and it dries out inside.

Yup clutches on 306 Rallye's are very heavy and also the Std Gti-6. Part of the problem is the fact there are two very stong springs used in the mechanism. Its quite common for one of the springs to be removed to allow the pedal to be pushed down a little easier.

Nothing to worry about though, its normal.

My brothers XSi is the same, dont think it affects just the Rallye's and GTi's.

Thanks a lot! Should be picking it up next week, can't wait. Compared to the 182, doesn't feel quite as quick, but the engine/ induction sound is cloud9

Also, I'd read about the poor steering lock, but it caught me out in the car park, 3pt turns become 8pt turns!

Looking cheap as chips to run compared to the clio, £100 back from the insurance company, £145 for Eagle F1's all round. Wouldn't get two tyres for that price on the 182.

Yup thats true but only turning right!! You have better steering lock turning left!

The reason is the six speed gearbox sticks out that much futher than the five speed so the lock had to be reduced to stop the wheels fouling the gearbox!

I remember the pain well !!
