Hi, has anyone had any problems with carbon fibre exhaust cans which seem to be melting or going "soggy" a friend of mine has this problem on his Ducati any ideas welcome, ps, they have only covered a very few dry miles thanks, David.

Carbon Fibre resins are very susceptible to failure due to excess heat - in fact very few can withstand temperatures of over 100 degrees celcius (ie a hell of a lot less than your average exhaust temperatures).

What make of can is it? Poor design and cheaper resins would most probably be the culprits.

more likely the internal wadding has broken up allowing exhaust gasses to get to the carbon and melting it .sounds like it needs repacking .

I heard they just rattled themselves to death and collapsed prematurely on V-TWINS so i just got stainless ones on my TL1000r.
