Just wanted to gather general opinions.
I currently own two performance cars... one is the summer toy and the other is the general all year round daily drive to work etc.

I'm looking to switch my daily drive (Celica GTfour) for an EVO.
The EVO IVs are around the £5000 for a high milage upto £6500 for a low-mid-milage.
The EVO Vs are upwards of £6500 going upto £9000+

Are the EVO Vs much better/stronger cars than the IVs? Are they worth the extra money? (They all have the same engine from what I can see).

I don't mind high mileage cars if they've been well looked after... so a good high milage EVO IV for £5000 (for example) would suit me fine. But I tend to drive my cars quite hard... so would a EVO V be money better spent? Or are the EVO IVs just as strong?

Thanks for your opinions.

People who buy IVs tend to end up putting later Evo engines in. Apprantly the IV suffers from crankwalk.
The IV has a much nicer looking spoiler tho.

I had a IV for 2 and a half years, I had to replace the engine but that was down to the previous owner changing the cambelt and not doing the balance shaft belt. Apart from that it was a great car I would say just go with your budget and if you can find a IV with a new engine you wont go wrong.
check www.lancerregister.com for any EVO related questions before you buy there is everything you need to know on there

Cheers.

I think I've more or less decided to go for an EVO6 now.
Been looking at the various prices for 4s, 5s, and 6s, and there is quite a lot of overlap.
I can get a mid-milage EVO6 for around the £10K area.

No just need to get a good price on my part-ex car.

As I said previously have a look on the MLR they have many enthusiast owned cars for sale you should get a pretty clean 6 for 10K. Where are you based by the way
