Just got the paper work to Insure the Griff 500 and it says I need to provide a written valuation and photos of it as the cars worth over £15,000. It's optional but if i don't it will be valued at current market value.
Anyone else had this? They did not mention it when i was on the phone organising it!
How/where can i get it valued? How much will it cost? (I live in Gloucestershire)

you get this on a lot of policies these days.. I believe the TVRCC will do you a valuation for a minimal fee.

I just had this with Classic line Insurance. On their form it mentioned 'club official' as well as other approved people. My local region RO kindly signed the form. It must have been OK as I received the policy by return.

Yep that's them... who valued it then? Your club RO?

Correct. He didn't crawl round on his hands and knees looking at it but he was there when I bought it a year ago and is familiar with its history. He knew what I paid for it, he knows what I've spent on it and agreed the depreciation that I have allowed for.

I think they are just looking for someone with some knowledge to approve the realistic value of your car.

Mervyn Larner, the club model registrar will do an "official" club valuation, on headed note paper. You need to supply photos and evidence of major work. It costs about a tenner I think. get his details from the club web site, or failing that, office.
this is important for "agreed value" policies- i have this, I pay a bit extra but if a car is written off then the owner gets the agreed value no arguments.

I am with these and didnt have to supply a written valuation on my Griffith 96.
But i did have to supply some pics of my S3 and what i thought it was worth, they obviously where happy with what i had said it was worth and could see the condition throught he photos i had supplied and didnt ask for a valuation.
Worth sending photos of front/side/rear view, engine bay and cockpit with there valuation document they give you and see what the outcome is.
