The Batteries in one of the black keys died on me, so I started using the other black key, intending to replace the first key batteries. Obviously I never got around to it and now the batteries on the second key have died. So, replace both sets and all would be well........ you'd think. Er no, niether black keys operate the central locking now but both extingish the "code" light when used in the ignition.
Effectively everything works bar the central locking although if you lock the drivers door manually the central locking works. So its only the "remote" part thats playing up.

Its booked in for a service in a couple of weeks time so could get it sorted then but anyone got a quicker fix?
I have heard a figure of £250 per key to "reset" but that seems obsurd. Thoughts/tips please gents?

If the black key still works the immobiliser, the problem is that the key's rolling security code (for anti-theft other than immob, central locking etc) is out of sync with the vehicle. Incidentally, the same will happen if you press the key button more than 16 times whilst out of range of vehicle. Refer to page 7 of your Owners manual and read WARNING and following paragraphs under the "Activation" section.

If this does not work after several attempts, have the complete set of keys recoded at your service. This requires just 10 mins so cost should be negligible and does NOT require a session on the SD2/3 - Obviously essential you agree cost in advance otherwise you will be mugged. IMO, £250 is out and out theft. You will need Red master key of course.

Hope this helps

Thanks Nigelo,
I hoped you be along with your words of wisdom some time. I'll give it a try and if all else fails I'll send the red key along on service day. I hadn't got a quote from anyone at £250 per key just the usual (mostly) misinformed Maserati rumour mill.
Thanks again

That didn't work,
Lancasters said that it will be done FOC when serviced next week.
