LT77 Gearbox

Hi, my box has gone bang on my 93 Chim I just collected, Rover LT77 type, can I use a LT77 from a Discovery as in the Ebay add bellow or would the ratios be different?

You really want a suffix D vitesse spec box IIRC (ratios are different from other versions). Bernie the gearboxman.co.uk will rebuild it for you; personally I wouldnt install a 2nd hand unit without having it rebuilt...

Ok thats good info, rebuild I suspect is not an option as it dropped all its oil on the road when it went, will have a better look today but it looks like the casing is holed.

Casings are 10 a penny, your internals are the rarer & desirable bits

Groomvroom i dont know if its still available but i have a customer with a brand new Vitesse SD1 box still on the shipping crate and in the grease paper wont know till tuesday though.It will have to be collected from s/east london,not sure if it as that prefix but he knows its a Vitesse box(rover nut)let me noi did post on the forum before about this but no one seemed interested.

Looks like I might have found a box from a low milage pre serp 400, whats the story with clutchs, can you fit a 500 one to uprate it?

Glad to say shes back on the road as of this evening. Second hand box when in well and the cluch was in good shape. Thanks for the replies guys
