annoying fuel guage

just got my wedge back on the road yesterday and while driving around i rememberd that my fuel guage needle jumps about from 0 to full all the time and it annoys me. (ticking noise!!) does any one elses guage do this and has anyone got any remedys?

It's a feature - when it stops bouncing you know the tank is empty. As for a cure, get a louder exhaust so you can't hear it?

Can't it be the earthing of the dashboard or the metering unit?
I luckily only have this on the the volt gauge when using my indicators.... Although the fuel gauge, since a couple of weeks has some limited additional movement, like yours but not annoying, it didn't have in the past.
