It makes you go faster by switching the lights out & reducing the load on the alternator. Only try at it at night....

Is this only on certain age cars ?? I don't seem to have one, I thought the spinning silver button on the dash did all the lights ??

The button by your left knee under the dash switches the dash lights on and off.

Yes, I know. Other cars have a dimmer switch for controlling how bright the dash lights are...and our TVRs have a button for switching them on and off. Bizarre. Strange. And true...

perhaps it's for true stealth mode during the blitz? drive around and nobody can see you, not even the tell-tale glow of your face lit up by the dashboard lights... or maybe not.

If it is a black button on the transmission tunnel it is for the air conditioning which was a rare option on early cars (changes air from outside to recirc)

I think it's so you can leave the side lights on as parking lights on a night without having the inside of the car lit up also. Just my two-penneth

It's reckoned that your night vision is improved if you switch the dash lights off.
