Ok, picture this. The lady in the car with you has had enough of the exhaust noise (I know, hard to believe), and wants some music. As I don't have Wagners 'Ride of the Valkyries' in my CD's, what music fits best with the car?

Just your thoughts and personal preference please...!

Being an old fart I often drive to Led Zep or Whitesnake (not that Whitesnake is necessarily very girl-friendly). That's in the Alfa, but I guess a TVR is a sort of British heavy rock kind of car.

I was wondering that, but currently some Tech Trance (stop shuddering in the back) is really sounding good in it. Great sweeping synths, massive breakdowns (ha!), and a real 'push on' side to the music...

A TVR would surely equate to something like SlipKnot. Scarey Mental Thrash Metal!! Hoo Hah!

It's got to be something like RATM, The Wedding Present, Peter and The Test Tube Babies, Audioslave (thanks Podie) or something of that ilk

They were utter shite one hit wonders back in 1988 (I think) with the awful Baby Live It Up or somesuch arse. Any TVR driver found with this on the stereo should be hung by the testicles from the nearest tree as a warning to othershehe

I'm in the throes of making up what I've labelled my 'Fast' playlist.

As already mentioned there's 'Flight Of The Valkyries' but also 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go?' (The Clash), Ever Fallen In Love (The Buzzcocks) and 'I Predict A Riot' (Kaiser Chiefs).

All I need now is a bloody car stereo that works

Nooooo - of all The Clash's fine works, you picked the worst, most MOR, most commercial single they released?

Given recent developments, perhaps I'm So Bored With The USA would have been a better selection?hehe

Sorry - I appear to be rather opinionated today...

Absolutely right. In fact, not long back when I had my Westfield, I was playing this at a none too quiet level, when I passed a church where it just so happened a funeral was taking place. yikes I turned it off as soon as is humanly possible, but I suspect the poor attendees must have already heard some of it. Whoops!

Just a few that get my feet tapping on the pedals....well that one on the far right anyway... and singing like at a loony (a bit of an eclectic mix...but IMO all go well with V8 accompaniment!:

Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar
Roxette - The Look
Billy Idol - Speed
Talking Heads -- Road to Nowhere
M People - Search for the Hero
Chumbawumba -Tub Thumping (I get knocked down..but I get up again..)
Simon & Garfunkel - Cecilia
Band of the Scots Dragoon Guards - The Gael (from Last of the Mohicans)...no vocals but stirring pipes and drums
Angela Georghiu & Roberto Alegna - Brindisi (play this one LOUD!)
Pomp & Circumstance No1 (play this one LOUD too!)

It's early days, only three tracks so far. Loads of stuff to wade through yet.

Do you mean that you're in the process of discovering The Clash? If so - superb! An absolutely awesome band - you've got some real gems to look forward to.

FWIW, Give Em Enough Rope is my favourite albumthumbup
