HI ALL,

Having problems with my ignition barrel, the plastic switch at the bottom which is turned by the key is knackered. Anybody know a part number and anywhere I can order it online.

Cheers in advance Matt.

Dont think so she seems to start better when the car is hot. Paul chim93 suggested it was a soleniod problem on the starter motor but after futher playing around it cant be cause when I turn the key and the engine doesnt start i can still hear the soleniod clicking. So I am none the wiser, I had the black switch off the end of the ignition barrel this afternoon and turn it with the screw driver and it started 90% of the time. When I put it back together I must have started at least ten times and no problem. The problem will reappear if I leave the car for about a week it will not start again, then suddenly she will decide to fire up. Weird but its beginning to piss me off.

You can test the switch to a certain extent just by externally shorting the appropriate connectors together. If it always starts fine like this but not reliably with the key then it points to a switch problem. If it's not so clear cut, before you start mucking about with the switch check the condition of the multi-plug that connects the switch to the loom. They're notoriously unreliable and cause voltage dips and black outs when they go.
