Hi - just after some advice. My Griff's boot wont shut...I've had a look at the mechanism and it seems fine, sprayed with WD40, but wuth no change.

Strange thing about it is that it happened at the same time that the fuse for the dash instruments( a 10 amp fuse - nine from the left of the fuse box ) blew. Any correlation ?
I've replacerd that fuse but it hasn't changed the boot not shutting.

Advice/experiece much appreciated.

If the mechanism is in the un-latched position can you use a screwdriver or similar tool to simulate the boot lid striker and cause the lock to latch? If you can then it may just be a case of needing the adjust the boot lid striker.

I find with my boot lid that it latches easier if I push on the right hand side with one hand before pressing over the mechanism with the other hand.

Can you hear the solenoid activating when you push the button?

Hi - no the solenoid doesn't seem to make a sound. Do you think another fuse blew that controls the boot mechanism at the same time that the dash went ?

And I've tried to push the mechanism with a screwdriver to close it artificially...but it won't click shut...which made me think there might be a problem with the mechanism...

I'm just glad the boot lid doesn't lift at speed !

It's prob worth checking the solenoid to see if it's knacked or not, you could either get a 12 volt feed and try applying it to the terminals on the solenoid to see if it moves or get a multimeter and test the feed using that when somebody presses the switch. That should identify whether the fault is in the feed or the solenoid itself. A new solenoid is about 10-15 quid and pretty simple to fit, if you need one you'll need to keep the nipple dubrey from the old one to screw the wire to as they don't come with one, well mine didn't.
