All,

My sons 106D has developed a (probably driver inflicted) fault.

When lifting the clutch the car feels like the brakes are on... and then releases suddenly.

The gearbox also sounds a little noisy... and occasionally sticks in gear.

Any Ideas ?

Jon

Is that just pulling away or everytime you lift the cluth when changing gears. If just pulling away a slipping clutch could have that feeling as you feel like your not able to get anywhere. Mine felt similar when I spilt oil all over my clutch recently, which caused it to start slipping.

Hi,

Not a slipping clutch as I have ever known one. It literally feels like the brakes are on and you are fighting the inertia. When it does start moving it there is a pop and you start to go.

Was thinking Release Bearing, but that would not explain the noisy gearbox (I dont think)

it sounds like the release bearing welding itself to the cltch or trying to bore a hole through the clutch fingers .
