cost of clutch for a chim
Discussion
Hi
Wow 220 was cheap - must have been a special offer - did that include a complete clutch plus bearing, etc? Around 300 for the complete clutch seems the norm. There are cheaper clutches but they're not up to the job of handling the TVR's torque/power so don't last very long.
As regards the number of hours labour it's a labour-intensive job so allow for around six to eight hours total - maybe you should ask an Indy Garage.

Got mine replaced recently on a 5.0 96 Chim. Breakdown of costs was as follows:-
Labour £235 (no breakdown of time)
Clutch cover plate £134
Friction Plate £124
Release bearing £26
Release sleeve £15
Release arm £43
Clutch fluid £5
Carriage for parts £25
Total parts £371'ish
Total = £606 and VAT = £712
I got similar quotes from other independents. The ones I used source their parts from a TVR dealer so there is probably a bit of a mark-up on parts costs anyway.
Hope that is some help. So much better with the new clutch, last one completely destroyed!
