T350 boil up !!
Discussion
Some of you that were at Mallory park yesterday might have noticed the wet gravel under my yellow T350c??
When we first arrived there and stopped the engine, a huge cloud of steam started coming out from the bonnet, it soon stopped.
This has happened before after i had topped up the tank, along with that anti freeze smell in the cabin, We set off for home keeping an eye on the temperature gauge, it was fine for about 40 miles, so i thought no more of it. When we got stuck in traffic, the temperature soon went right to the top of the gauge, and steam started coming out of the bonnet again, we moved off again and the temperaure went back down to normal, and drove about 20 miles to the next services station, let it cool down for half an hour and topped up with nearly 2ltr's of water.
When we arrived home i let the engine run to check if the fans were working, and they were coming on fine. and we had lost no more water.
So the point and question is....Why did it boil up like that and chuck out so much water?? any ideas chaps??

Had a similar problem with the Tamora over the weekend, we where driving around a busy car park at a local beauty spot looking for a space, the temp went up to 100deg the fans where working fine, then we heard a pop from under the bonnet and steam every where
, quickly stopped the engine, the pop was from the filler pressure cap, which had released and spewed coolant every where, after assessing the amount lost, (about 1/2 a ltr) knowing that there was probabily another 10 ltrs in the system, we limped embarrassingly home
Having left it overnight mine only took 3/4 ltr to top back up.
2ltrs seem a bit excessive to me,for it to be the cap, unless the cap is faulty, make sure you bleed your system if you have but that amount of water in, the way to tell whether you have an air leak is to run up totemp and see if your temp flutters from, say 82 83 85 86 back to 82, this indicates an air lock.
Or you could just need a rebuild
Joke Joke

My T350 was just fixed under warranty with similar issues.
Originally thought the fans were the issue, but they came on fine so not the sensors for those.
It turned out to be an airlock in the system and low coolant level.
Its worked fine since.
Sorry not a techie so no idea how u'dd check/get rid off an airlock

Is a caddy a type of vw? I am not familiary with the vw range, just so I dont sound a complete numpty.
yep it`s there car derived van, would be interested in the year? I was told the same cap has different pressure ratings (VAG)??
Hi Guys, an update on my T350C boiling up last weekend. I went out today for a bit of a blat to check on the problem, same as last week, fan cut in ok at around 103 degrees, and take it back down to 99 degrees,is this normal or should they cut in earlier?
just before they stop i get a "warning code 16 water sensor" come up.
could this just be a dodgy sensor do you think?

Had a similar problem. High temps, but fans cutting in and out and intermitently topping up with coolant. The day before going to the dealer found a puddle under the offside of front of the car. The original TVR radiators made metal and plastic, there was a split there hence air was getting in the sytem. Since new rad (also changed sensors/termoststat cutting in at 94, 96 deg C ( IMHO over 100deg is too high).

its that time of year again soon for the overheating issues to get going, at least this year i know what to look for and how to fix it, hopefully its just something sticking and you get it sorted soon
