Well after much deliberation and to my wallets dismay I've bitten the bullet and bought myself a Canon EOS 1DS MKII, all 16.7 million pixels worth of it!!
It was a tough choice as i was thinking of a 1D MKIII to replace my 1D MKI, but in the end I decided I wanted image quality over out and out speed! Oh and not forgetting the full frame factor as well which i've missed since going mainly digital.
Having only had the camera just over two weeks now, I've been able to get out and about and try it out a couple of times with different subjects.
Quite frankly after seeing the images even straight out of the camera I had to be picked up off the floor!! The quality is simply mindblowing and the detail out of this world. I've got a long way to go to get the best out of the camera but inital results are stunning which i'm very pleased with.
Here are a few shots i've taken although obviously heavily downsized to fit here, dont think Ted would be too pleased if i started uploading 50 Meg file size photo's!! I've only had a very quick play with these pics and converted them in Pixmantec Rawshooter Essentials 2006, so no doubt they could be improved.
Fittingly the first photo is of my old TVR 350i at a recent club meet....
Enjoy

I've never used a 1D MKII but compared to my 1D MKI i'd have said it was the same if not better. I fully charged the battery on Easter weekend the used the camera for a whole afternoon, followed the next day by another couple of hours use then again the next day for another full afternoon. Even after all that I'm still showing the full battery symbol !!
The majority of the afternoon use was with the 100-400 IS lens with the IS turned on as well !!
