Hi,
today i`ve finished all kinds of repairs and upgrades.
I`ve changed the exhaust manifold. Before changed it,i have to work on that piece, cause the quality is not on a god level.
Upgrades on my "SE":
H&R fully adjustable suspension.
New ECU with S4s Mk5 chip.
Steel braided clutch line.
Steel braided brake lines.
New Brembo brakes with vented cross drilled discs on the front and drilled discs on the rear.
New front hubs with new wheel bearings.
Aluminium mesh at the front and at the rear.
Race exhaust(very illegal here in germany).
8x17 (215/40) and 9x17 (265/40) Rial F1 two piece aluminium wheels with spacers on each wheel.
Blow off valve.
Modified Garret T3 turbocharger.
Rebuild chargecooler pump.
Front spoiler lip.

The car now got 28000 miles on the clock. It`s now in perfect condition.
The paint is original black with magnolia leather.
You can see the car on:www.lotus-esprit-se.de/NeueSeiten/Treffen.html

P.S.:The only thing i like to change now is the original roof.I like the glass sunroof more!

Yes - just about perfect!
I'm looking myself to upgrade both turbo and suspension - where did you get your H&R suspension and what mods have you done on the turbo? I'm looking at getting an upgraded turbo from PUK Marcus Esprit at:
http://freudhoefer.de/lotus/esprit/

I'd be very interested to know what improvement the H&R does - or does it just look better? If you look at the last picture at:
http://community.webshots.com/user/doorsey
..you can see that now I have bigger wheels on I'm in desperate need of lowering the car!
Again, great looking car!

Hi,
i got same modifications on my turbo like PUK Marcus.
The H&R suspension is special made for my SE.I got a friend who`s working for H&R.I`ve waited about 4 month for my springs and dampers. It`s not the same suspension like an german car tuner(Steffan) selled few years ago.I think a good compromise ist the suspension from Ramspott&Brandt and the price is ok too.www.ramspott-brandt.de/
Thanks to you all that you like my car!I`m ready with the work on it.All problems are cured, all modifications are done.Maybe the first perfect Esprit??Good joke!!
The only thing i like to change is the roof.Maybe i can find a glass roof.
THX!

P.S.:Hi Doors,i like the S4 style wheels on your car a little bit more than the bigger ones.Maybe the smaller ones are better for the handling of your car.
But your car is is looking great, cause it`s black!

Hallo Roadburner,

I discovered your SE recently on www.ramspott-brandt.de

It was love at first sight so to speak !! She is beau-ti-ful, a kind of "JPS" SE, wirklich schön !!
I wondered if you had any more pics of the car, I would love to see a few nice pics of the interior, do you have some ??

Please feel free to send me any pics you have or may make in the future at vincent.trouilliez "AT" wanadoo.fr

Thank you very much in advance.

Tscüss,

Vince

PS: yes, get a glass roof, it will look beautiful with your sand interior

Hi Roadburner and other people.

I really like your mesh inserts and also want to redo mine. I still have the stock chicken wire in mine and it does look a little nasty. I was thinking about the air flow going through the car underneath etc. If the holes are going to be smaller on the mesh wont that have a small effect on cooling???

Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Kylie

Hi RoadBurner,

About your H&R suspension - I don't suppose your friend can get some more can he??

No harm asking!

I know what you mean about my wheels - I do think the old ones look better, but I wanted the larger size to fill the arches, hence I bought the newer ones - now I need to get the suspension sorted - for that I need adjustable, as I seem to be higher at the front than the back now for some reason?

Oh - I see you were on a thread that had some discussions on quad exhaust pipes for the Esprit - however, the links seem to have dissapeared - I'm looking at exhaust options as well, I don't suppose you have any good links to good pictures etc. to help me chose!
Still think you're car looks awsome!

Cheers,
Doors.

Hi,

With all this talk of suspension upgrades, you should check out the proprietary Penske® Coil-Over adjustable shock manufactured and sold by Barry Spenser at Spencer Motorsports (www.spencermotorsport.com) before making any decisions on upgrade hardware.

Barry is British and a former Lotus Factory Trained engine builder for Lotus and very active on the West Coast racing scene (Barry was the 2000 SCCA Champion driving a 450HP Europa). His shop services, upgrades, and does race set-ups for Lotus and Jensen-Healy exclusively.

I saw Barry's shocks at his shop near San Francisco when I visited him this past month and they are great. Easily adjustable for both damping and rebound. I can't use them as they currently are available for only the post-'88 cars, but Barry is also preparing a pre-'89 set which I am saving to buy. These were fabricated and tested exclusively for the Esprit by Barry and work wonderfully. He is an authorized Penske® Shock dealer, but the Coil-Overs are his exclusive design. Happy Motoring! Hey lotusguy,

I had a less than stellar experience in ordering these penske shocks from Spencer Motorsports..indeed, it got to the point where no product was forthcoming, and the credit card company had to intervene and stop charges...

Others may have had better luck, but I also know of others that have had problems dealing with this outfit..

Do your homework folks...Personally, I wouldn't touch this outfit with a 10 foot pole...

Jasbir,

While I do not dispute what you are saying in the least, I have to say that this is the first criticism I have heard about Spencer Motorsports though.

I know Barry personally and have always found him to be forthright and honest. I have several other friends and acquainrances in the Lotus Community who also hold Barry in very high regard.

A friend and I visited with Barry a few weeks back to purchase and pick-up a Europa Twin Cam Special from him. Not only was the car better than represented, but Barry threw in a couple extras and went out of his way to accomodate us.

Not to impune you, but I have to believe that there is more to the story, such as Barry was delegating during the racing season or such because this is just out of character for Barry.

There are many suppliers of various parts and components, several of whom I do not recommend and a couple which are well known to you all. But, I still highly regard Barry and endorse his products and services. I sympathize that you had a poor experience with him. Every business has it's share of disatisfied customers. and there are always two sides to every story. I would urge you, if you are of a mind, to give him another chance, but of course, that is your choice to make. I would also urge everyone to do their homework before purchasing from anyone. Caveat Emptor must rule the day! Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

Thanks guys - well, his web sites down at present anyway, so I can't even see them or see how much they are. I'm leaning towards H&R as I've had this brand before on Saabs and VW's and hve been happy.
