That's their long term R1, doing running 8.48 lap on easter weekend just gone. His brother following in a 997 GT3. Pretty good going when you consider the amount of traffic on the track.
Who's been? Is it always this chaotic?

Done a few laps on a bike.. awesome rush!! I'd never seen the track before and there were no Playstation games to learn which way the track goes at the time... so i didn't have a clue!! Can remember approaching adenau forst(sp?) wondering where the hell it had come from and i run across the grass putting my off road skills to the test luckily i stayed on and calmed down a little after that incident!
Deffo worth a trip, forget lap times and just enjoy the track. check out www.nurburgring.org.uk for safety & advice
Some good vids on www.bridgetogantry.com 7.32 bike lap in traffic

Had a call this evening from a mate's girlfriend who is planning a trip to the 'Ring around the weekend of June 23/24 this year as a 40th birthday pressie for him (to go with the 'Blade she got him at Xmas) - I reckon a fully-loaded Pan Euro should raise a few laughs
Pillion cameraman, anyone...?

Then youtube link does not work
I have been round it in a car after a lot of GT4 laps, and whilst you can have a fair idea of what corner is next you really don't appreciate how much it rises and falls as you go round.
It is an amazing place, as others have said, ignore lap times, go and have fun.

I have been on bank holiday weekends and its always busy. This year i am going during the week as it looks quieter. If it is your 1st trip out there take it easy as it can go badly wrong and every year there are deaths on the ring. Its a great place to go and visit though.

I went last year over the May Bank Holiday weekend with a few mates and had great fun. We did a few laps on GT4 as practice, but it does nothing to prepare you for the place. In the end I only did 2 laps before self preservation kicked in and we called it a day. I am a reasonably fast road rider, but have only been riding bikes for 2 years and have little track experience (except for in my old Caterham 7). The main issue is the amount of traffic and the fact that you always need to be checking your mirrors to make sure you are not going to get wiped out by some German nutcase in a hot M3.
My advice would be to avoid weekends if at all possible and get there before the track opens. Bag a few early laps and avoid the traffic as much as possible. Treat it like a road you have never ridden before and you should be fine. Treat it as a race track and try to nail it and you will probably come off.
Also, take a look at the site below, which has tons of usefull info when planning your trip.
