Doesn't someone on here own a 962? That's pretty close.
bergmeister. Maybe he has a few odd jobs that need doing? His car is a carbon-bodied affair that by all accounts is insanely quick. I'd rather a go in his 906 to be honest. Maybe we could nick it for the Targa Florio run? How apt would that be? You bring the balaclavas, I'll bring the mittens.
Just kidding bergmeister, obviously, but your collection is mental. As it happens, I saw an absolutely immaculate 911 ST today in lime green at E.Thiessen in Hamburg. Don't you have one of those as well?
Me!
About 4/5 years ago at Spa, on a Wheeltorque event.
It was owned by Brunn Racing, IIRC.
What was it like? Mad! Never-ending acceleration, cornering like you just wouldn't believe. It seemed there were no straights at all. We were on track at the same time as a F5000 (?) McLaren and I remember passing it as if it were going backwards. And that's no exaggeration. Honestly.
I was shaking with excitement when I got out. Utterly superb.
HTH!

Talk about cheap thrills! I think it was £10 for 2 or 3 laps, half sitting on a fire extinguisher wearing a 3 point belt.
Hi Loach

Yes i do,fantastic cars, very understated.Thiessen gets some nice cars every now and then, not sure its a original car though,as PS autos had one for sale not long ago ,which has now gone. This was a replica or oldtimer race car/new build, looked nice.
I have looked on Thiessen web site,no st yet on there.
The 962 will be out at some point,we are doing a road test/article at some point with Colin Goodwin,Carrera Gt vs 962.Should be interesting.

I think you should change your name to Bragmeister.

Entirely possible the car I saw was non-original, BUT - it wasn't for sale (it's a customer's car left with E.Thiesen as it's engine is being fettled), it appeared to have the correct interior, correct rear wheels, badging, perspex glazing all over the shop and so on. Thiesen maintained it was original, but could have been fibbing. I'm going back there tomorrow to test drive something. I'll get the chassis number for you.

Had a better look at the 'ST' in question today, bergmeister. I think you were right. Chassis number on the car is 911 2300 411 which doesn't seem to tally with what an ST's chassis number should be from what I can tell - you'll know more than me. Still - the car looks impressive. It has been almost over-restored, and looks pristine in the way that American classics look pristine. Anodised and shiny connectors everywhere, every screw head is gleaming, the paintwork in viper green is flawless, the interior looks newer than new, under both the front and rear hatches nothing looks like it has ever seen any use at all. Both gorgeous and slightly sad at the same time. All the details seem correct, though. Front windscreen is a thin guage item, all the side glazing is plexiglass, the fron and rear decks are fibreglass, the seats look correct etc etc. No one knew what sort of price would be put on it as it isn't for sale. Apparently, about 60k Euros is being invested in the engine at the minute, though I know nothing about what's being done or if a correct twin-plug 2.4 is being used.
In the mid 80's I had a few laps of Silverstone in a 962 driven by Jonathan Palmer no less. It was one of the GTi Engineering cars that I think won the European Championship. He lapped within 2 seconds of his then F1 times. Never been in a car like it, all aspects of its performance were amazing but the grip and gear changing in the middle very fast corners were most memorable.
Thanks for the info loach,i am pretty sure i know the car.As you say looks nice, and understand what you are saying about over restored etc
These cars should look period, you can easily loose 60k euros in a correct 2.5 ltr engine,if you have none of the special bits that you need for a twin spark, rsr injection pumps etc.
If you are there again some time, see if you can get a couple of photos.
I built a copy of the original st to race and hillclimb etc, looked very used after its first event last year the Tour Britania, and now looks great with some gravel rash on it.

Please charge me admission to come and dribble on your cars at some stage, bergmeister. I'll try to get some photos for you.
ETA - Ooops... a 2.5 litre engine. I stand corrected. I thought it could be 2.4 or 2.5. As I said on another thread, my anorak on these matters is a little threadbare. But my heart is in the right place.
