What front tyres?

What front tyres are people using now? my car has 225/50x15 but originally had 205/55x15 as is a non-PAS car. Been looking through the online sites and see S03's and S02's are no longer available. Need a set soon, and seems the only decent ones are Michelin or Dunlop, there are a few budget brands out there though, wondering if they are worth considering? Has anyone tried them? When fitting tyres years ago it was clear some cheaper stuff was based on the companies premium brands.

I know and have told that many times to people when they came in with their old part worn rubbish they wanted balancing, but as said lots of budget brands are owned by the bigger companies, the budget stuff often uses a tweaked version of the premium brand so wondered if any of the current ones on offer would take the place of the old Bridgestone's which I am very happy with, it seems even the premium brands are getting hard to find in W rated tyres. Also any recommendation for where to buy from, don't need them fitted as can get that taken care of.

www.tyretest.com are a good website for checking out feedback on budget brands. After much deliberation between Nantang and Khumo I got the Nantang and have had them on the fronts for about 1000 miles now. I drive hard and am very impressed with them. they look fine and have had even wear, dont get too hot after a long run and they stick to the road like glue! Also hardly get any tramlining and feels really nice on the Mways and thats on Nitrons set up quite hard, plus took no time to bed in. I also checked with insurance co re using V rating tyres and that was fine. What swayed me to get budget tyres was not price but advice given to me by Warren at Topcats who knows a thing or two about driving on a track. He only uses budget tyres on his TVRs and the reason being they are much softer compound and has had no problems. Only negative is faster wear but with £50 a tyre im not bothered! Remember Toyo were not exactly a big brand tyre before TVR used them. I used www.mytyres.co.uk but loads of others on the web that deliver.

Had SO3's on my Chim. Now got Dunlop SP9000 Stopped it tramlining, crashing through bumps, and generally not instilling confidence.
Micheldever tyres supplied mine mail order for £316 for the four incl VAT and carriage. And they have the Z speed rating

Now I know it's a completely different car but I've just put a set of BF Goodrich G-Force Profilers on the 156 and they are superb, better on the 156 than Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's and they are excellent tyre too.
