I think its 51mm ID stainless pipe, just get a section and cut to length but I would wait for someone else to confirm the bore.

A metre should be more than enough, available from anyone who makes these drive-in drive-out stainless exhausts like Powerflow etc.

Was just thinking of doing exactly the same thing. What config are you going for? A straight replacement for the back box? Isnt that a large single pipe into 2 smaller ones, havent had a decent look yet. I need to keep the cats in on mine, for the MOT, does anyone know if putting straight through pipes after the cats will ruin them due to loss of back pressure?

the pipe i used was 52mm stainless, £25 from metal supermarket (Outlets throughout the country) you will need two peices about 700mm long...the actual box is about 500mm long (if not a little bit longer).
Cut in the right place and you will be able to keep the two front exhaust mounts...cut in the wrong place and you will have the exhaust hanging on the rear rubber hanger only!!!

Take the precats out....go on....you dont need them for the MOT....

Sweet, going to get one of my suppliers to get me some 52mm pipes. Had a good look and it looks fairly straight forward (now jinxed) How did you join them? Did you weld the pipes in or slot the ends and use exhaust clamps?

Tempted to take the precats out, but mine is slightly louder than others I have driven and I have just got it so its possible that they are already out.

The thing I find is that you can hardly hear the engine anyways when nailing it, cos of the noise from the wind, the gearbox and the induction. I assume that will change?

Cheers

I just welded the pipe in.

Watch out because the pipes do not enter and leave the box at the same angle. The pipes are not parellel either.

With straight thrus you can definately hear it when nailing it. Everything else (included the mrs saying "slow down" is drowned out...hehe

Nice, cant wait. Are the pipes left dead straight? Welding shouldnt be a problem, as long as (as you said) he welds them in at the correct angle.
