Hello all, looking at possibly getting a Chim!!

Now I want a 500, but can't really stratch to more than £10K, so a 450 may have to do.

Does anyonr have any opinions on this car

Thanks

I've just sold my 500 Lee - in excellant condition with 34,000 miles on the clock FSH etc... on a 97 plate (sold it for £11,500).
That car you're looking at, has got a resonably high mileage, I know you've only got 10K to play with, but the extra £1,500 would make a lot more sense if you can find one like I had (shouldn't be too hard, just need to be patient)

Was at Fernies yesterday as my dad's Chimaera went in for a service. Very nice looking car, stunning colour in the sun. It looked to be in good condition although it had'nt been forecourt prepared etc...
Dont be put off by the high mileage, my dads has done 87,500 and is very good condition with no problems whatsoever. Obviously every chim is going to be very different, but i would say the car is well worth a look.

Regards,

Adam

High mileage is fine if it's a keeper, but no matter what anyone says, on a cars that are not inherently thought of as "every day high mileage cars", then you will suffer come resale time.

Factor this into the price and you should be fine, but it needs to be a very good price.

I agree with Al. As these are not considered to be mile crunching everyday cars I would be wary of the miles, however I'm sure if its been cared for properly it'll be fine. Everyone says that these cars are more reliable if used regularly which I also tend to agree with. I've just bought a Chim 400 97 P with 47k on it. Cost me £10k and I'm absolutely besotted with it!!!! Good luck and if you do decide to go for it make sure you get a deal on it!

Don't get me wrong - the cars, or certainly the engines can eat the miles with no problem if serviced.

It is purely people's reactions to a +100k mile car when you are trying to sell. A lot of people will not even consider it hence although you will eventually sell if the price is right, it might take a while.

If you reckon you are likely to keep it for a fair few years, the impact of this issue is lessened.
