Delecour returns to the stage

Sideways GT3 video signals the return of a hero

The man Colin McRae once referred to as ‘Psycho’ is back in a rally car, and that makes us very happy this lunchtime. Francois Delecour - the French rallying superstar famed for his Cosworth and Peugeot drives and his fiery temperament - has been out testing the 996 GT3 RS he will use in this year's French rally championship.

The car will run in the GT class, which last year saw the works Aston Martin Vantage battle against the Porsches, and runs alongside the regular classes for WRC and Group N machinery.

For a brief glimpse of the man at (sideways) work click on the video link below. Is this what we want to see from our rallying? We certainly think so...

Top video Adam, thanks. Hats off to the bonkers cameraman on the outside of that fast right-hander who doesn't even twitch as Psycho gets it well crossed-up. Wonder what it would be like on a wet loose surface, and how close the camera bloke would be standing

Shame that one of the tv companies can not take on board that people want to see cars like this driven by nutters like FD, ITV covers WRC and thats it, no proper mention or coverage of the production guys, the junior guys, the historic class and this awesome touring class....

Is there a cameraman? Or just a mounted camera left running?

Wasn't it Delecours that nearly severed his feet in a road accident in a Ferrari some years ago?

Must be a camera mounted on the floor and left running, i cant think of anyone brave enough to lie on the floor on the inside of a corner whilst pyscho performs a max attack manoeurve

Yep, thoroughly bent an F40. If you`re going to have a shunt you might as well make it worthwhile.

Why the hell would ITV spend money to show the 'French' rally championship?? It's hardly their fault.

As for running a Porsche in rallying, helps that the French (and Italian) series' are all sealed surface. I can't see a 996 doing quite so well on full WRC scale events hehe

But then, they used to... scratchchin
