I can see this is going to be a steep learning curve so please bear with me.

I've got myself a 1990 3.9 Auto Rangie now and have got to say i'm really pleased with it. It's pretty scruffy inside but mechanically it seems ok. (Unfortunately as i like it so much it's making me consider making it all nice again inside so i'm going off roading this weekend to get rid of that idea)

Anyway, onto the important things. I want it to look good and go off road well. I think the off road warrior look is the way forward so i'm planning on taking off the lower front bumper, the tow bar and the side rails to increase ground clearance but I think it needs bigger and better tyres.

It's got a 2 inch lift on it and i'm hoping i can get something really quite chunky on there but how on earth do i work out what will fit. The tyres on it now are 31.5 I think but don't look that good (unheard of dodgy remoulds) what's the biggest tyre I can get on there, will they need specific wheels, do i need to put spacers on, and if so should I then stick those plastic extended arches on?

(As for which tyres - I've already been advised by you guys that BF Goodrich MT are really good but they look quite pricey.)

If you want to stick with your current rims, loads of tyre manufacturers make 31/10.50R15 tyres.

If not, I suggest a nice set of 235/85R16s, or even 265/75R16s.
