I've searched through the forums looking for advice and recommendations on upgrading my 4L Chim brakes and found a few interesting discussions, but was wondering if anyone had fitted the TVR Car Parts upgrade kit with HiSpec 4 pots...

www.tvrcarparts.com/pages/partdetail.asp?id=409

The details on the website for each of the components in the kit are missing, does anyone know what they are?

Are there any other recommendations for front 285mm discs, pads and calliper kits around the £600 area? There are some threads a couple of years old where Brembo and AP kits were discussed. Would be interested to know how they're doing?

All comments welcome.....Thanks!

The best upgrade you can make is to make sure the system is working properly. Just by Goodridge Brake Lines and flushing the old fluid through improves pedal feel no end.
Another upgrade option is to go for the 283mm discs on the front with 24V Granada calipers, this improves the bias feel if you are on the 240mm Escort disc.
EBC dimpled discs work well with the Mintex pad.

What are you hoping the upgrade will achieve i.e. what problem are you trying to solve?

Hi,

I've ordered these and will hopefully have them fitted next week, a lot of good feedback from other owners who have fitted this kit.

I do a lot of trackdays and found the standard setup wanting, so I chaged to EBC discs and pads, plus decent fluid and braided hoses. This made a difference but still not adequate so I then decided to try this setup out.

I'll let you now when they've been fitted.

Thanks for all your comments.

Dom - just checked your profile and found your posting asking exactly the same question! Not sure why my search didn't uncover it before. It would be good to hear your comments after you've fitted the kit, but it seems they get the thumbs up from a number of others.

To answer the other questions on what I'm hoping to acheive, I guess better feel, more power, control, and improve the front/rear bias. I'm not saying I'm unhappy with the current brakes, they're fine (not great) for fast road driving which is what I mostly do, but as I need new discs and pads all round I thought I should consider improvements/upgrades as they don't seem to be much more expensive than the standard parts.

Think I need to the 283mm discs to correct the balance which is a bit too much to the rear. Where would I find the information I need to do the conversion myself?

Many Thanks
