Yes I have one of these, but it's decided to be a bit secretive with its information, ie, its stopped working.

The fans still cut in OK, and the connections seem to be good, all other gauges are fine, no fuses blown.

All helpful suggestions, please send in.

Ta.

Fans work off a different connector/switch. Easiest start point is to chack the sender, otherwise I fear it can be tricky.

I think I may have a spare gauge, if you want to attach it directly to the sender to rule that out.

I've checked the sender (it's there!), but it's bit hot around there at the moment, so I'll wait until it's cooled down a bit.

The sender on our Griff is a black plastic bit, with a hex bit that obviously screws in, with a twin spade connector at the top. The replacement that arrived today is all brass, with a single spade connector, that won't connect to the original wiring.

Next helpful suggestion, please.

Daft question..are you looking at the correct sender? (Or phrased differently, have you looked to see if there's another one that matches the new one)

On reflection, it is the replacement that sounds wrong....more like for a Morris Minor!

I've spoken to Mr. Man, and I've been looking at the wrong one, which is not surprising, cos I'm not that bright!

Anybody got very small hands to get at the sender?

Sounds like a job for Lorraine, well she does co-own the car.

Maggit, if you remember, the same thing happened to me at the end of the Growl last year as we left to drive to scotland! 600miles with no temp guage is a nervous trip! You need to use 2 very long and thin plyers. One from either side. One holds the spade in position while other pushes it on. Tricky but do-able. Make sure she is cold otherwise you will burn yourself. YOur significant other might be able to get her hand in there instead.

Colin, if you have the spare sender on top of the head, use that, much better. You need a resistor to calibrate,180 ohm, or use a 200 variable.

There is a sort of stud sticking up behind what I now know to be the sender for the ECU, but as for the "proper" sender, having now seen where it is, that can wait until the next service. The fans are cutting in as usual, so I can live without the temp gauge for a bit.

I've got little hands Maggit (stop sniggering at the back) do you reckon I could get to it.
Quite happy to help if I can. Point it out at Chatsworth on Sunday and if I think I can reach I'll have a go.
Sorry for the dense question mate but I've got no idea where the thing your talking about actually is.

I'll show you (fnarr) on Sunday. I think you'll agree with me to leave it till the next service.

Down behind the dizzy, easiest way is to use the David Beer mod.
Other wise its Top hose of dizzy cover off and the you can get to it with your Fat hand although still a bit of a struggle and water will be lost

Do you have something made that I can just plug in? I'm sure what you've suggested makes sense, but it might as well be intergalactic navigation jargon to me. I had trouble at school making a bulb light up with a battery and two wires!

I've just fitted Daves' mod, and it works! Which for a total electrical numpty like me is a terrific result. bowbowbow
