If the chassis, body and interior are in good nick, it might be worth buying and getting a new engine put in! Can't imagine that'd cost more than £3000 for a very low mileage 450 from a scrap job, or even a new one from TVR.

Mate of mine sold a 4,500 mile 500 engine and box for £3,400 only last month

why put in a new engine? if it has a service history and all the receipts then an old Buick lump'll go till the cows come home, that is a serious bargain

Remember the rest of the cars done 120,000 miles too though not just the engine.. think what the frontend and the interior could be like, not to mention the suspension, brakes, ets etc..

Anyway for an extra 4k you could have a really really nice colour:
