Been a lurker for quite some time, but finally had my first "grown up" brush with the law, so need some help
(BTW Hello everyone )

There I was busily returning from an evening seminar at M$ in Reading in the TT, it was just after 9pm, completely dark and the only other car I could see was about 50 yards in front.
I was doing approximately (cough) 80mph in the inside lane when out of nowhere (he was going fast, not me being unobservant) a police cruiser goes past me in the middle lane and pulls in front of me, about 20 yards ahead.
"Oh bother" I say (edited version) "Here comes my first points".
However, the police car puts on his brakes for about 10 secs, but does not decrease in speed. He then belts off and does the same to the car in front.
Of course I naturally observe his request and slow down to approximately 79 mph and carry on my merry way, incidentally catching up with him at the next junctions traffic lights.

Now then, do you think he was giving me a friendly warning or can he actually nick me from these events?

Thanks in advance
(Eternally waiting for a NIP)

Sounds to me that he was giving you a friendly warning....albeit, not the way it should be done.
I know one thing though..and that is that you can bet your house on it that you wont be prosecuted,(this time)!

This happened to me a while back on the M25 although it was a police bike and not a car.

I saw the two bikes join the M25 (anticlockwise) at the M40 and had slowed down to just shy of 90. Some guy who hadn't noticed them went past me and the bikes took off after him. As they came past me, one pulled in front of me and flashed his brake light. And then he just took off after his mate.

Odd thing was when they'd finally pulled over the other guy, only one bike was with him and the other was no where to be seen. They could easily have done both of us.

I was in our people carrier at the time. I wonder if I'd have been treated the same in my Porsche?
