for consumables such as oil when engine is rebuilt under warranty while in for a service?

Situation is my 996 was booked in with my local OPC for a 48k mile service, during which they decided to rebuild the engine due to intermediate shaft wear.
New oil, and possibly other consumable items, are bound to be fitted/supplied as a consequence of the rebuild and would normally be paid as part of the warranty claim. But --- I signed an order for a service at menu price which includes the cost of consumables. If my bill includes these items, can I reasonably suggest that Porsche, and not I, bear the cost?
Has anyone here had experience of this situation?
Would love to hear some views on this.

PS - I'll post the outcome here in any event when I get the car back next week.

I would say you should pay, your car was in for a service so needed new oil anyway. They may waive cost as a courtesy or may forget as they refill with new oil to test engine rebuild.

But I doubt it!

so they are rebuilding your engine under warrenty (good result i'd have thought). the car was in for a service, for which you'd have paid for oil.

why do you think you should not pay for the oil now?

The argument would be that had the car not been in for a service, and instead been taken in because the engine was making a funny noise, he'd have had the engine rebuild and got free oil, so perhaps he should have free oil now.

However, as it was in for a service, and you've received a good level of service from them, I'd just pay the service cost and say thank you, safe in the knowledge they've done a lot of work for you for not a lot of money (relatively).

I had a gearbox repair under warranty and had to pay for fluids and sealant. The wtty only covers parts.

Bloody hell, they`re shelling out for a new engine and you`re moaning over a couple of hundred quid`s worth of oil that you were expecting to pay for anyway. Say nothing enjoy the courtesy car and reap the rewards

Dont get me wrong Henry! This isnt a moan, I really did wonder how these kind of costs are allocated. I've been saving up for ages for this service so paying for it isnt an issue.
Maybe though I am a bit miffed that after TVR ownership the bloody Porker is falling to bits too!
Cheers

At least they are shelling out for the work. I`m not sure if TVR even has an address to write to let alone a person to address any warranty complaints towards !

No, I think you just pay for the service as you were expecting to and possibly ask they give you a set of wheels to keep you mobile in the meantime.

I do see where the question came from though. Obviously we are not privy to the circumstances leading up to the claim.
