Just in the stages of removing the body from the car. Having removed the bonnet, its so much easier to get at the engine. Just thought is there a better way to fix it so that it could be very easily removed in the future?. Anyone done this or thought along the same lines.

So you are going for the body off?
How far have you got?

Watch out for the few 'gotchas', speed sensor wires (Didnt make a note of which way round these went...doh) and some of the nuts on the outriggers are welded to the chassis and some arent!!!my chassis is definately goling to the blasters on monday...cant wait to get it back.

Yes, having a totally removable bonnet is sooo much easier than the normal hinged variety...oh to have a lift off front end!!!
You could go the racing pin in each corner approach, but it's not exactly the most elegant solution. Hows about replacing the pivot bolt arrangement with a hitch pin type arrangement www.wilsonmfgco.com/hitchpins/wirelockpins.htm. To remove the bonnet open it, remove the two R-pins and slide off the hitch pins?

Needs a bit more development but is that the sort of idea you were after?

Regards
Iain

ETA or a variant of the racing pin option www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=MSPORT&pcode=PST120-2000 not cheap but would do the job nicely.

Perhaps you could copy the S series arrangement where the whole front end opens on a hinge? As long as you make sure it'll open far enough, it makes for superb access to the engine bay.

Peter, please don't tempt me. It will make life sooo much easier, allow me to run headers with straight exits, probably weigh about 5% of the current bodywork, etc etc!!!

I'm working on some prototypes at the moment. It is something I need for my Cerbera (same bonnet).

The Malaysian racing chassis's changed to vertical bottom mounts to have the rose jointed tube wishbones working better(I confess to not knowing why).On my car we copied and improved giving the mounts more strength using the box section.
Your welcome comming down with lots of cash and taking it off my hands, its depressing looking at tens of thousands worth of nuts and bolts every day.( don't know whether to laugh or cry smiley)
