Just wanted to thank all the guys on here for there help and advice during ownership. It has been the best car I have owned by a country mile, and would recommend a GT2 to anyone. A truly fast car, with none of the negatives that people spout bollox about all the time.

Bought from 911 Sport in Lincolnshire, very happy with the deal.
Ran for 8000 miles with not a single problem.
Sold to 911 Sport in Lincolnshire, very happy with the deal.

It's up already on www.911sport.co.uk

Can't fault them at all.

After 8 911s I fancied a change, and have gone for a DB9. Hope no-one minds if I stay on here though, the Aston forum is a little quiet.

Quite a change, how does it compare (or dont you have it yet).

My boss has had his DB9 for over 2yrs now and never had any major problems with it (new heated screen only thing needed doing). He is struggling do know what to have next. Tried a Bentley GT but said it was far too quiet.

It's been a HUGE problem for me deciding where to go after the GT2. Ironically I was 99% convinced of a Bentley, but bought the Aston last minute. I haven't taken delivery yet, but I've driven them before and they are fantastic. A big change though. I think I'll probably go CGT (Bentley not Porsche alas) after this.

Looks in great condition from the pics although you would think a Porsche specialist would list the correct literature about the car rolleyes

Published Accel: 3.9 - should be 4.1

Horse Power: 485 - should be 462

and i've never heard of Artic Silver before hehe

Good luck and congrats on the DB9, they are truly one of the best looking sports cars in the world IMO, with a soundtrack to die for.

Simon, can you confirm the car is A1, no accidents, and you don't hang around with Lonman etc....

I'm sure you will miss it Simon. It was partly this very cars fault that i now have an arctic silver 996 gt2 sat in my garage. It up at a cracking price for a gt2 from a dealer, i bet it doesn't stick around for long!

Is the carbon air vent in the front pu standard, or indicative of being bent and upgraded?

Hope you enjoy the Aston. I worry I've peaked with my porker too. Try to enjoy my BMW but can't get into it and not sure throwing more money at a road car will help.

The facelift GT2 was 485 wasn't it? Or is that not a facelift car?

The 483bhp cars (facelift) were produced for 2004MY only, of which 16 were produced.

Thanks guys.

Horse power - I believe the car is 455bhp (462bhp).

Website - Phill Woolley struggles to tie his shoelaces, let alone get his facts and figures right. On the plus side he's an honest man, and one of the best engineers in the world. I've bought and sold from him 9 times, and have not had a single cross word with him.

Accidents - I can confirm that I have not had an accident in the car. Regarding it's previous life (13k when I bought it) I have no idea. I didn't investigate the car's history at all. I know that Phill has serviced it for the past 3 years, and he's bought it twice, so I imagine he thinks highly of it. That's enough for me, others will have to make their own mind up.

Congrats Simon, I think you are wise to go for a complete change, after the GT2 everything will feel slower.
I went 996TT to AMV8 (now back in Pork) & loved the Aston, the ownership feel good factor is 1000% better than Pork , although its driving credentials aren't quite as good, I personally hope to be back in an Aston again at some time in the future!
Let us know what you think about the DB9 & be sure to post some pictures.
Oh & by the way get ready to be a minor celebrity every time you take the DB9 out!

Sorry cableguy, artic silver (a sort of silver silver) is about the most popular colour for a 996 and has been around for some years.

My 993tt is polar silver which has a blueish tinge to it. Much nicer IMHO

Now I'll just zip me anaorak up.....

I think he was questioning the spelling rather than the colour. Now about that anaorak...

It'll beat the odd stares I'm getting in the 10 year Rover 600 diesel that's held together by rust that I'm smoking around in at the moment. Flash B@stard.
