Hello all,

Strange one this scratchchin

When i dip the clutch on my Omega 2.5TD BMW straight 6 there is a ratteling noise but when the pedel is released the noise stops.
Some days its worse than others and sometimes there seems to be a slight delay re pick up.

Any ideas guys ?

Thanks,

My BiL had a 2.2d Omega with the same symptoms, progressively got worse until the engine stalled and seized. Turned out to be a broken crankshaft. Just out of warranty he got full engine replacement free as GM's first offer.

Cheers,

With the clutch pedal on the floor, engine running, noise will most commonly be caused by:

Worn throw out bearing; worn pilot bearing; throw out fork off it's pivot; clutch adjustment needed; pressure plate misaligned or crankshaft endplay excessive, so the chap that posted above me may be onto something.

Thanks chaps thumbup

Funny thing is, if i dip the clutch at tick over it rattles but lift the revs to 1500 rpm it seems to stop could it be something that has worked loose.

Thanks again.
