So tomorrow I will order a Cayman S.

I wonder if it's possible to spec a 997GT3 Steering Wheel?

Hi Asterix - lovely car you're getting. I suspect they'll do most cosmetic things asked, at a price.

Not yet - going to go this afternoon.

Tell you what feels weird - handing over a chunk of money for something that I won't see for 7 months. I have bought new cars before but never had to wait for more than a few weeks.

Cheers Jez

Asterix - With regards to the steering wheel just spec the standard 3-spoke wheel without Multi-Function and then buy the 997 GT3 RS wheel from Carnewal...£400 fitted

I'm going to order the thicker sports wheel anyway - perhaps I'll just get it covered here.

Ok - so here's the final spec for the Cayman S

The only one thing I would like is the Alcantara roof lining but for something that I just won't look at...

Does it really make 500 quids worth of difference?

that is a mega-expensive spec and you still haven't added nav or tel modules

No point in the Nav and Tel options out here. Anyone who has been to Dubai knows it is all about landmark as there are very few street names.

Also I'm lucky with costs as it's quiet a bit cheaper here.

I see - guessing that is £55k if specced in UK

Wow! There is a huge difference then - That spec here comes to AED 250,000 which is about GBP 36,000 (ish)

No climate control in Dubai yikes or is that standard on the Cayman?

I have to assume that it is standard as it's not on the online configurator - anyway - it would be madness not to spec it. Maybe that is their thinking.

Kinda worth being certain in Dubai? If it's like the Boxster CC is standard on the S and optional on the base model, or at least it was that way a few years ago.

Is Dubai RHD or LHD?
What would shipping cost be to the UK?

I agree - If it's not standard then it has to be specced.

LHD - can't help with the shipping but I know someone did a costing exercise and it wasn't worth it.

The deed has been done.

Spent half an hour in the OPC going through everything - only thing that was added to the above options was park assist - nothing removed.

Put the money down, have to wait to see what price increase there is for MY08 and be patient as it's not going to turn up until November.
