I've noticed that it is better to have the drivers window down when driving at speed. With both windows up it seems to swirl around worse!
Oh well, means i can hear that exhaust note better..

I find exactly the opposite, at higher lepton rates with the drivers window down I get battered. Drivers and passengers windows up and its smooth as silk.

I tend to have the windows up when I have one of the kids in the car as they dont like getting battered. And for long distance motorway crusing. Otherwise its windows down roof off all the time :-)

I find it best to have the passengers window up and my window down too. With both windows up, the wind seems to resonate on the tops of the windows. The back section of my roof has never been down since it was replaced, want to keep it looking pukka.

Is there any point putting the back section down ? ? ?

IMHO not a lot specially with the impaired rear vision, and the threat of creases in the window.

You guys are joking right?

Why on earth would you have a convertible and not put the roof down properly?!

I know I'm in the Chim forum, but if you go to the trouble of taking the hardtop off, you may as well take an extra 10 seconds to push the bit of old canvas at the back down and enjoy the clean lines of the car.

But yes, whichever way you look at it, the wind noise and buffeting from most TVRs is rubbish!

Can't say I've noticed the swirling at the top of the windows - Might be a height thing, with me being short..

yes, put the back down when I'm cruising around the local area not going too quickly and wan to hear the exhaust note a little more. - Got to be done, feels much better like that.

For me, it goes down approx 5 inches.....and makes the car fill with wind above 40mph...

Why bother ?

Same here, even after the new screen going in last week, the roof at best folds to 45 degrees, It doesn't go flat, so it completely obscures any visibility in the rear view mirror, and leads to greater wind noise. I don't see the point.

Rear section should go a long way down - when I put mine down I can easily see out the back with the rear view mirror. To get it all the way down its important to do it right though. My method is:

Release metal braces and remove top.
Release velcro on both sides inside and out
Push both sides above the velcro so the material folds inside as the roof lowers
Gently push roof down until you feel resistance
Run hand gently along the plastic rear window where is has folded to make sure the fold is smooth
Push roof down the rest of the way using a bit of pressure
Where roof has folded on top of seatbelt mounts push it clear

Job Done :-)

Yes you will end up with some marks on the rear window over time, but on mine you only see the rear window when I'm not using it. I bought it for the full roof down experience and its regularly used, Im not precious about it always looking perfect I just bought it to enjoy. The fact that its nice to look at is a bonus :-)
