AVO settings

Turn the dial etc but how much to effect etc before I try. At the moment its on shake the fillings out. Like the handling but it also shakes other bits loose, which I can live with but maybe softer? So, no maual etc, how many turns affect the handling?

Was the same with mine. I have set 6 rear 2 front for normal road use. Its a great deal better.

Do you get bump steer on especially bumpy roads?

I would expect the setting to be based on clicks (1/8th turn) rather than complete turns? But maybe yours is different. In any case the adjustment will be relative coarse. Suggest you start with fully soft (which will be way too soft) and then stiffen a couple of clicks at a time until you get to a happy compromise. When I tried them briefly on the V8S, the best compromise seemed to be at about 6 clicks (out of, from memory, 14). But your car and dampers are bound to be different so you are right to experiment.

According to history on my car adjustment is in click increments of quarter turns. Fully anti-clockwise is softest.

'Road use'-front 7 clicks, back 4 clicks-ok but quite stiff

P.s. cannot verify any of this as I damn adjuster on rear seems to have seized!! All I can say is that ride is bloody hard at moment.

Pettsie, yes on the bumb steering.
Pete and Mark, will take your advice and try it, and Pettsie. Sort of happy with it but after a service and several loose and worn things pointed out at a service got me thinking.
I know every dip and rise on the raods around here by name.

Ok. Mine go from 0 to 24. I have also fitted new springs all round and powerflex bushes to the anti roll bar (give me a shout if you want to do this). The handling is a lot sharper. The powerflex bushes make the front harder but setting to AVO's to 2 clicks front end seems to work best for normal use.

Cheers, a previous owner already done powerflex (or equivelent) all around with adjustable spring thingies on the rear. it has been lowered in the past but will give these a go when it stops raining.

Its usually a good idea to set the rear softer than the front by at least 2 'clicks' as this provides a better balance and traction. Also bear in mind that to get the shocks to react at the same rate you may have to set them up an uneven amount, as no two shocks react at exactly the same rate, if you want to get them spot on you need to use a shock dyno.

Matt, is it that critical for road use? I am unlikley to get it on the track.

PS was going to do it today but got it out of the garage at 1pm then, for some reason, it was 7:30pm and I was putting it away....minus a tank of fuel
