Where is the best place to get a replacement key (the kind that operates the doors/alarm, bonnet & boot) is direct from the Porsche dealer the only option and any idea how much they cost inc programming/cutting? or can any indepenedents do it?

Cheers

Hi
You will need to go to an opc for this. They will get the key no from the master file at the factory. Also they will supply you with a Transponder head.Pop the car in and then they reprogram all your keys, good idea if you are missing one.Comes to about £210 approx.

My OPC quoted for a new key a fortnight ago @ £90 + VAT.

Can't remember wether it was 15 min or 30 min workshop time re-programming.

Total quote was approx £145.

I only need the rubbery bit (3 button MY04 986) and took a bit of convincing (the OPC) that the electronics just pop out!! Eventually he returned "Don't list that part sir only the complete key, a bit odd I agree as there is a wear issue with them".

If anyone wants to swap their rubbery bit (OO-er), perhaps trading in and one key as new or knows of someone selling a key I would appreciate a heads up.

I have spotted a Canadian company advertising 2-button and 3 button keys on flea-bay, bit chancy but hey who knows what you'll get for £50!!

Carnewal do 2 button 996 heads (including the CGT one) for 100 or 125 Euros - maybe they could get you one for civilised cash (though you would still need it to be coded at an OPC).
