My cigar lighter popped out of the dash today when I was removing the phone charger.
I found it difficult to re-fit it via the stereo facia hole, I couldnt be arsed to take the pod off and I dont have ash trays for access. So I simply went in from under the dash - and managed to screw it back together and push the end wire back in place all within 5 mins or less. Easy peasy and I didnt break anything or blow any fuses or lose any skin from my hands.

Yup - standard thing. If it's anything like mine it's a poor design as it has about 1/4 turn to lock it in, plus the surround was too small so it pulled through the dash.
That was my first job/mod. I filed down a plastic chrome ring to fit and having little hands was able to go in through the stereo hole/back of the dash.
Looks ok as well.
