How much do you get and when? I have a real shake coming on at 85-90mph but seem unable to drive through it. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

I get a vibration at the same speed. It's constant but not overly worrying - unless you try looking at your watch which is a blur!

As matter of interest I drove a Chim with PAS and it was as smooth as a baby's doo-dah. Maybe that dampens the effect. Perhaps my bushes need replacing?

Never driven a PAS so can't say on that one. But would like to resolve this problem though....

Is it wheel balancing?

A quick check in a tyre place will tell you if your wheels need rebalancing. I found that after about a thousand miles on new tyres they needed checking., and then again after a few more thousand.

I agree - sounds like wheel balancing, had a similar thing on the S... wheels balanced and aligned and it's no longer there..!

Does sound like wheel balance, or it could be a flat spotted tyre or bent rim. If it's bad enough to feel, it'll be putting extra wear on the wheel bearings, steering etc as well as annoying you. Worth fixing.

Thanks for these replies, but would you trust your average tyre fitter with your beloved Chim??????? Who would you recommend? I'm in Southampton.

No, I absolutely wouldn't trust my local tyre fitter to check wheel balance on my Chimaera. I tried it once and then had it done properly at Racing Green near Farnborough. The job the local fitter had done was a joke. Racing Green also did a full geometry check and adjust. The difference after both was astonishing, ultra smooth, no shakes, and corners like it's on rails. Should get pay back on reduced tyre wear.

I also had my wheels balanced at the local ATS. Well meaning but crap result!

Racing Green charged my twice as much but they were absolutely perfect afterwards! So much so that I took my new 'mail order' SO2s to them to be fitted and balanced. (£50ish) Once again they are pefect. Nice people too, with some wonderfull machinery to drool over while you wait/chat.

Normally if you turn up on a Saturday morining they'll fit you in on a 'first come' basis, but probaly best to ring first.
