hi my 4.0 97 chim is still playing up.its a intermitant fault that makes the car cut out when slowing for a corner or at a junction.i have changed all the normal stuff ,stepper ,temp sender, plugs, leads but last week it was fine this sunday played up all day.please can someone help before i set light to the thing .ive had this for 4 years now but nobody can find the fault and i have lost any cofidence driving the car.thanks jay
I had intermittent cutting out when coming to a stop and intermittent dodgy idle on my '99 Chim. This was eventually traced to corrosion/dirt on the big ECU connector.
edited to add: I had two sources of corrosion/dirt: it seems that water was working into the ECU connector through the bulkhead; and sticky oily goop from degrading insulation tape.

Me too. Just pull the ECU out from the battery box, unclip the socket and check the contacts. The socket comes apart easily if you need to open it. I also found one of the socket terminals was mounted the wrong way round. This allowed the contact to slip backwards into the socket because its spring clip was facing the wrong way.Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
