My CV8 failed its MOT (27K miles) on 23rd March due to Rear disks, rear pads and front pads.

Front pads are in stock, but rear disks seem to be the problem.

Pentagon (Rochdale and Derby), and Monkfish have been unable to source any.

Pentagon say they are on "back-order" from Australia. They apparently ordered them then, but they are still on back-order.

Can anyone suggest an alternative route, or supplier, as the car has been off the road for two weeks now...?

Thanks both - may consider this option.
They failed due to excessive wear, which I was a bit surprised about after 27K miles...

Interesting. Did they compare thickness to the minimum spec on those disks? Can you not get them refinished and just fit new pads?

"Minimum spec on these disks"...
I got the MOT done at a tyre shop, while getting the fronts replaced. The mechanic doing the MOT said he did not have a Monaro on his computer, so asked if it was the same as a Calibra!

I'm starting to wonder if I should get a second opinion on the wear...

I've still got my discs, you can have them if you like. You're lucky they were going to the recycle tonight. Only done 17k so should be fine. You going to Rockingham at the weekend - be the easiest way to get them to you? Oh and as for the pads - mine fell to pieces when the calipers were removed!!

Edit : Ah its the rear pads you need - can have them as well if you like to see you through till you get a new set. Discs etc covered in brake fluid but I can clean them up. Carriage will be expensive if you want them posted.

Changing my CV8 brakes for VXR ones on Friday. You can have the old stuff for free if you want (just went through MOT last week) but you'll have to arrange collection or pay postage.

Well-fans - thanks for the offer. Where in Scotland are you - I'm in Edinburgh on Thursday, but Rockingham will be difficult for me..

What, excessive wear? No way, would say, they are completely wrong there.. The disks would be good for atleast 200,000km plus! They are taking you for a ride, no way even the fronts should be replaced. I can find out in my manual what the minium of them should be, especially if they compared it to a calibra, cause that is just way wrong..

Raggyman - just checked the MOT Advisory notice - it says the following;
Nearside rear (on inner face) brake disc excessively pitted
and same for offside rear.

The mechanic did say, they looked fine until you took the wheels off.
I think I need to try another test station...
Thanks all for the offers of the disks. Please keep them on hold until I can get a re-test..

have to say 27000 sounds low for rears, especially if the fronts were ok as usually its 2 changes fronts for 1 rear in experience

OK, if they are pitted (you could say they are finely drilled).., you can get them machined. I know of place down here in newcastle, and they are awesome. £20 a disk is what they charged me.

I'm in Motherwell - about 35 miles from Edinburgh but work in Glasgow during the day. If you like I'll see if Deanne is going to be in on Thursday and she could pass them on to you, its that or wait till the evening when I return. Welcome to have them if they're any use to you.

Minimum rear disc thickness is 16mm, so it's hard to imagine the disc's worn 2mm in that mileage.
