- Leave work early on Friday to get bike MOT'd
- Push bike out of garage, key in ignition……….Bike won't start
- Try jump starting from my grandmothers car. Works fine, but stalls as soon as jump leads are removed.
- Leave charging for 2 hours.
- Try jump starting. Works fine but bike will only run at over 4,000 rpm. Decide to risk riding it.
- Get 2 miles up the road and bike stalls. Have to push it back to grandmothers - knackered
- Miss MOT
- Leave bike charging over night
- Starts OK, so ride back to Hertford and put in for MOT first thing
- Bike passes - fantastic
- Go to pick bike up. Won't start
- Get push start from mechanics - very embarrassing
- Go to Stevenage to get replacement battery and Tax
- Post Office won't give me tax, because my insurance documents are not original (still in the post)
- Try getting tax over the phone. Stupid automated man won't give me any because the insurance database has not yet been updated with my details
- Call insurance company. After 38 minutes on hold, decide to shout at the poor girl on the other end
- Feel very guilty, but can't face 38 minutes on hold just to apologise
- Buy replacement battery for bike I can't ride
- Spend journey back from Stevenage ranting about the stupid incompetents at the DVLA
- Calm down
- Decide to try the TVR to relive some stress
- Get in, turn key………….car won't start - battery dead
- Decide to tinker with car and fix speed sensor
- Remove bracket holding sensor along with much of the skin on my knuckles
- Try removing sensor from bracket - no joy welded solid
- Keep trying for the next hour, but still no joy
- Shout at car and wife
- Watch Top Gear - feel much better
- Hope next weekend proves more fruitful

Yes, and it was the only "sport" I have found more frustrating than golf.

Probably best I didn't go out when in a bad mood - I always ride like a complete pirch

Well, my carp luck has continued.

I got home early from work last night to head out for my 1st ride in 7 months. I changed the battery, which took about an hour because I lost one of the connecting bolts on the gravel in the back garden - arse. I found it eventually and got togged up to go.

Anyway, off we go, quickly!!!! Too quickly as it turns out because 1 hour into the ride I stuff the bike on an easy right hander. I should really have got round it no problem, but I froze up and headed straight for the scene of the accident. Luckily I chose the only corner with a nice wide grass run off, so the bike has relatively little damage (cracked side fairing and a bent crash bung.

Anyway, after a breather I got back on and started off down the road, only to find the temperature going sky high and steam pouring out from the engine. By this time it was getting dark and difficult to see what had happened, but I think the fairing had pinched one of the hoses causing a coolant leak. Anyway, several hours later I arrive home safe and sound on the back of a tow truck.

This was my first accident and not the best way to start the season, but at least it has taught me a lesson. I just feel like a total Muppet!

Yeah - I sure hope so. I always say that you can tell a persons real character by their ability to deal with difficult situations. Well, this week has sure been character testing.

Still, turning on the news in the morning makes you realise no matter how bad you think things are they are better than many others thumbup

Ello Matey!!
Glad you're OK and it sound like your kwakas not too badly broke!

It's easily done (being top of the leader board I feel it my place to offer words of wisdom! ) - trouble is I found that once you have done that it makes you question your ability the next time and makes you prone to do it again. You just have to get back on and build up confidence slowly again - I just about feel back on top after dropping it on that roundabout (which probably means No 4 is on the way!!).

Catch up soon...

Hopefully the bike will be fixed this weekend. I just need to get the side fairing off to see what has caused the coolant leak and get that fixed. Assuming the parts are easy to get hold of I should be able to get it sorted this weekend.

Ollie, the way we were going the other night it will be your brother that comes off next. I can't quite decide if he is really really good, or just nuts Are you about for a ride Sunday if I manage to get the bike sorted in time?
