fumes in my 944

this is my first posting so i hope you guys can help me. got a 85 944 and when i let off the accelerator pedal i get a strong smell of exhaust/ petrol fumes in the car. checked the co and its running at 1.5% so its not running rich and the exhaust isnt blowing so i am a bit stumped plus is 23 mpg a norm for these porsches ( just got it!!) many thanks for all replies :-)

its probally the rear boot rubber needs replacing, exhaust fumes get pulled in to the car through the cracks in the rubber.
23 mpg sounds about right.

As above, but have a gander at the injectors as well.

i had that on my 924 and it was a leaky tank

This is probably the reason,fairly common problem.
