I know that this subject has been done a few times, but can anybody recommend any shocks on a budget, the car doesn't seem unsettled at all and the bouncy test is giving no signs of trouble with the shockers only that it feels a little to soft for a sports car,but on closer inspection the rear n/s has started to leak, very loud banging noise especially on the n/s when pot holes are hit "very disturbing", am i able just to replace the shock or do i have to also replace the springs? car still sits nice and level dose not lean one side or other nor is it looking like the rear has sagged, not sure of the make of my shocks (green in colour) but the springs are eibach all round (red) and look in reasonable condition, i have no problem in replacing them myself just need some advice on what route to take and where to go for performance parts

Intresting mine are red to the front and yellow to the rear.
AVO's are a good starting point don't know if you can use your existing springs.
Also absoultley shocks £550 IIRC

If I recall Correctly

I would also consider Gaz Golds. Have met the owner, Derek, in person when he did a very good job on setting my Geometry up. Knows his stuff and he didn't try and sell me into a new set of dampers for the sake of it.

About £550 supply for set of dampers with matching springs.

Second that, give Derek a call. He couldn't be more helpful.

Gaz don't deal direct, they have approved distributors.
Guess who that is for TVR?

Know what you mean Dave, bit of a sh*te name but as the MD's name is Brian Gazzard, nickname Gaz, at least somebody didn't invent the name.

Would recommend the Gaz shocks. Had them fitted to my Chim last week and they've absolutely transformed the handling. Turn in is nice and sharp with minimal body roll.
£500 a set from Derek (gazman) or £720 fitted with full geo.

Agree with all on Gaz, I spoke to Derek at Absolutely Shocks and discussed Nitron vs Gaz, Nitron great for racing, I opted for Gaz and had Andy M fit them. Totally awesome, I may back the adjustment off after the track day I have booked next week, they are a tad on the harsh side for country driving (with the wife ;-) but no doubt the car has been transformed for fast hard-core driving, finally it handles properly. Totally awesome, £760 all in, fitted and adjusted.

Honestly, totally awesome, stock springs and dampers are lame on these cars. :-)

Err... I would be surprised if I was the only one who was happy with the performance of my Nitrons on the road?

I'm sure the Gaz are an absolutely adequate product, as were the original TVR shocks/springs when new, I would not say either were lame.

Have to admit, I was tempted with Nitron, but without trying them yourself you have to go with the advice you get. Absolutely sells both, Nitron are nearly twice the price, I'd have paid it but was told they are harsh on road.

Hmm...
