Original Leven thread closed cos it's an advert. www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=379855&f=8&h=0
In answer to questions:

Barreti,

I was talking about the hassle of fitting - I knew you had to pop the boot, but was unaware that you need to pop the bonnet as well to fit the Leven hood... ?? Can you confirm...?

CityMan,

I bought a Cover-Zone "Voyager" cover - it's water "resistant", breathable, 100% UV resistant, light and clips underneath for security.
www.cover-zone.com/voyager_car_covers.htm
It fits lovely.
It hasn't rained on it yet.
Needed a light version of something as the Chim is in daily use.

Whiplash,

Stolen? Was it just cut off...?

Everyone else,

Anyone had good/bad experiences with the Cover-Zone and/or Leven?

Cheers,
LL.

Big Al.

Yep had a Leven cover on my Chim for over a year, great piece of kit, some of the threads came loose after about 9 months they loaned me another one until they got mine repaired.

And Yep, you have to trap a flappy bit of the hood in the bonnet to assist in securing the front.

For the HC1 there are 2 flaps attached. One which is almost the width of the boot and you open the boot, pull the flap into the boot and shut it again. At the front the flap is slightly narrower to cater for the bonnet catch but operates in the same way.
Both flaps are sewn inside the cover so you can't see them when its all fitted, and because of that they don't direct water into the boot or engine bay.
At the side there are two loops which go around your wing mirrors. They also serve to make sure the cover is properly aligned before you start putting the flaps in the boot and bonnet.

I use this cover not only when I'm out and about but also when I'm in the garage working on the car so any dust and debris doesn't settle onto the roof/windows.

You don't have to bother with the flaps if you don't want to, unless it is gale force winds or you reckon that someone will pinch the cover. I barely ever use the flaps at all, just the wing mirror straps. Hood cover has been excellent for the past 2 years or so.

FYI, I used the Leven half cover for a year on my car as I had to park outside, (I've moved and now keep in in a garage, but don't tell my wife that's the reason we moved ;-)

Fact is the edges will scratch the paintwork. be aware. I changed to a full cover mainly because of this. any cover will scratch the paint work with wind buffeting around, but the leven half cover is known for being bad wrt this.
