Spoiler vs badger. 1-0 to the badger

Bother! On way home last night, dead badger in the road, saw it too late to take evasive action & went over it. Clang! The spoiler disappearing in my rear view mirror.

I assume it's an easy fix, once I've got it straightened out (and removed the gore!), but is there any other damage I should look for underneath the car? Couldn't see anything obvious with just a torch

It seems from posts here, and comment in the SH bible, that many cars do not have these spoilers anyway. Mine hasn't, and seems OK for cooling.

Most of the vulnerable bits are safely up amongst the chassis, but worth a look whilst cleaning off the bits of badger!

I had always assumed that it was to help keep the front end down at speed & stop the steering getting light. Since I managed to salvage it at the roadside, I am going to have a go at putting it back.
This is where TVR & Hitchhiker's Guide are so similar "There was a reason, and a very good reason it was too, but no-one could remember what it was...."

I ripped my spolier off on a dip in the road last year, got a tool maker friend to straighten it up - re attachment is easy. It should have done any damage too anything coming off, it just snaps off at the screws.

Did you not think of picking up the road kill and making a nice stew by way of compensation for the spoiler
